Who She Is

S-rank. The Thornwall school in Greyveil is named after her family — one of the original 17 bloodlines. Sorel dismantled them. Her younger brother was identified as high-potential, absorbed into the Ironward's inner structure, used as leverage, discarded. Rayana watched in slow motion, couldn't stop it, left before it finished.

She is S-rank because she was S-rank before the fall. The ability does not care about your life choices. She could walk into the Ironward Citadel and demand a seat. She has chosen to sit in a camp near the Ashline and drink.

Kids attend Thornwall in pressed uniforms and talk about legacy. She is four hours away by rail, drinking in an outlaw camp next to the grey soil where her ancestors fought.

Why Riven

A kid keeps showing up in territory no academy student should be in. Alone. He walks into areas where beasts and outlaws would kill an F-rank. He doesn't die. He keeps coming back.

He is absorbing masterless marks from the old battlefields. Nobody else on the planet can do what he's doing. He doesn't know she's watching.

He reminds her of her brother. The stubbornness. The refusal to stop doing something because it's killing him.

She starts keeping the beasts away without his knowledge. Eventually, they meet. He does not flinch. He does not try to impress her. She recognizes someone carrying something too large for their body.

Voice

"You're going to die out here." She said it like weather.
"Probably."
"How old are you?"
"Seventeen."
"No. You're not."

"I'm not your guardian."
"I know."
"I'm not going to save you if you push too far."
"I know."
She finished her drink. "Then stop making me want to."

Arc

• V1: Hostile → curious → hidden guardian. When the cascade hits, she acts — reveals S-rank capability. Doesn't follow him back to the academy. The connection is made.
• V2+: TBD. She has information about Sorel, the founding families, what the guild actually is.

Notes for Writing

• She does not perform toughness. She is tough.
• She drinks. Not comedy, not tragedy. Neither romanticized nor condemned.
• Funnier than she intends. Dry observations that land because she's stopped filtering.
• When she acts at S-rank, brief and terrifying. She has been hiding, not declining.
