Who She Is
Expected something combat-prestigious. Her Crestmont family assumed she'd awaken something that set her apart. She got healing — the type the world uses to slot you into support, never the lead. The frustration is channeled into vigilance. If she can't be the most powerful, she'll be the most observant.
She sees Riven more clearly than anyone except Maria — not because she likes him, but because she's watching harder than anyone else, and she's good at what she sees.
Voice
Precise. Formal when uncertain, blunt when not. States her theory before asking the question.
"I've been watching you for six weeks. You don't react to things the way students do. You react to things the way someone does when they already knew they were going to happen."
Riven said nothing.
"That's a tell. Not saying anything when someone says something accurate."
Arc
- V1: Notices Riven is wrong — not wrong like a 17-year-old, wrong like someone performing being 17. Begins watching systematically. Her first theory (guild-planted operative) is wrong in specifics and right in instinct.
- V2-3: Her data doesn't fit the original theory. She builds a new one. Closer.
- V4+: The relationship shifts from surveillance to something neither has a name for.
What She Represents
The reader's avatar in some ways. She notices what's wrong with Riven's performance and refuses comfortable explanations. When Riven is getting away with too much, Petra is there to make it cost something.
