Who He Is
B-rank instructor at Greyveil Academy. Maria's father. In the original timeline, he was Riven's mentor — took him under his wing, taught him everything, died in the barrier failure's first hour while Riven survived.
In this timeline, Riven meets him for the first time at the academy after awakening. Edric did NOT teach at Millhaven — their relationship begins at Greyveil. The man Riven watched die is alive and doesn't know him.
Historical ties to the Menders' Circle (he was a contract hunter with them before taking the teaching post).

Measured. Asks more than he tells. Notices things and says nothing until he decides to say something. The kind of teacher who remembers what every student said in week one and checks it against week twenty.

What He Notices About Riven
From early on, Edric is tracking something he cannot name. The F-rank who doesn't react to being dismissed. Who takes more notes than anyone. Who looks at things — at him — with a steadiness that most seventeen-year-olds do not have.
He will not confront this for many chapters. When he does, it will be direct.
